Kossuth to Host Slate of Fun Activities Saturday

On Saturday in Kossuth there will be a fundraiser and fun day with children’s games, a 5K race, fresh vegetable plates, a craft fair, live music and more.

The event will run from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the 5K race starts at 8 a.m. People can register for the race in advance or the morning of for a $25 entry fee, which includes a T-shirt. Call Polly or Ronnie Jones to preregister for the race at (662) 415-7463. There will also be a $10 fun run for the children, and they will all get a prize.

The event will raise money for Operation: Back to School, which is a project of the Christian-based after-school ministry FUEL, or Forever, Unending, Eternal Love.

The fundraiser will be held at the the blue building in Kossuth.

All the money raised will go back into the community through Operation: Back to School, which will provide children with free school supplies, food and clothes, said FUEL Director Anthia Follin-King.

Fresh vegetable plates will be cooked during the fundraiser, and there will be free entertainment for children including bounce houses, football toss, volleyball and fire trucks to explore.

Gospel, country and bluegrass music will be performed under a tent, and there will be a community-wide yard sale, craft fair and a free health fair. People are encouraged to bring lawn chairs to relax and enjoy the day.

FUEL hopes to provide 150 school bags filled with supplies for various ages. In addition, the group wants to provide 60 food boxes and gently used clothes.

The school supplies, clothes and food will be provided for free during a shopping event on July 22 that starts at 7 a.m. at the blue building in Kossuth.
